Selected as Finalist fo Metro Art Neighborhood Posters

Los Angeles, California, – April 10, 2006 – Charlie Grosso has been selected to be as a finalist for LA County Transit Authority’s 2006 Metro Art Neighborhood Posters.

She was one of the 9 finalists out of hundreds of local artists. Grosso was assigned the East Village of Long Beach and tasked with the challenge of creating a piece of art that would represent the spirit of the East Village Community.

“I went down to East Village, Long Beach and spent sometime there on several different occasions to get a grasp of the place. What strike me the most on all the visits is the there is no one unifying voice for this community.
The East Village is unique because it is so diverse, both in its residents and in its architectures. I wanted to create a poster that would exemplify that.”

“New York Street Scenes” selected as finalists for the Creative Excellence in Business Advertising (CEBA) Awards

New York 411Los Angeles, California, – September 1, 2005 – Earlier this week, photographer Charlie Grosso was notified that photos she shot for the Variety Inc. publication, New York 411, were selected as finalists for the CEBA Awards.  The collection of photographs, created for the advertising campaign entitled “New York Street Scenes’”, is one of three finalists in the category of “Best Advertising Campaign with a budget of under $100,000.”

The campaign consists of several uniquely New York settings, buildings and locations as a focal point. Secondary in the images are posters, graffiti, building sponsorship and even a patch on a punk-rocker’s jacket all subtly branded with the “New York 411” identity.

Ms. Grosso shot the images on location in New York in February of this year.

“It was very tiring, but rewarding,” Grosso commented. “We spent 5 days, 18 hours a day, scouting and shooting simultaneously. Looking for just the right framing to capture images that would work as advertising, but have a very classical look.”
